Brian Kelly

Brian Kelly retired as an Assistant Professor in the Business Information Technology (BIT) Program at Marywood University, where he also served as the IBM i and Midrange Systems Technical Advisor to the IT Faculty. Kelly designed, developed, and taught many college and professional courses. He continues as a contributing technical editor to a number of technical industry magazines, including ?The Four Hundred? and ?Four Hundred Guru,? published by IT Jungle.

Before his career as a professor, Brian retired from IBM and he continues as a contributing technical editor to a number of technical industry magazines, including “The Four Hundred” and “Four Hundred Guru,” published by IT Jungle. Kelly is a former IBM Senior Systems Engineer. His specialty was problem solving for customers as well as implementing advanced operating systems and software on his client?s machines. Brian is the author of 309 books and hundreds of magazine articles. He has also been a frequent speaker at technical conferences throughout the United States.  Brian was a candidate for the US Congress from Pennsylvania in 2010 and he ran for Mayor in his home town in 2015. He ran as a write-in candidate again for Congress in 2022. He loves Football and among his many books, he has written 76 books about college and professional football.

Brian began his writing career by writing tech books about programming, systems design, database, etc. which were published by the tech voices in the industry in the 1980’s and through 2022. His IBM i (AS/400) tech books are still selling well worldwide. He also wrote a number of books about IBM the company such as Thank You, IBM,  available on this site. It is a story about the technology billionaires who stole the industry from IBM, as well as The All-Everything Machine, a book about IBM’s finest computer system. Brian carried this book further as IBM continued to develop bells and whistles for its finest Operating System IBM i OS. He wrote a book titled, The All-Everything Operating System which is among his best tech books.

Recently, Brian wrote the five mentioned children’s books, a number of Patriotic books, and some great sports books such as Great Moments in Philadelphia Eagles Football, Great Moments in Alabama Football, Great Coaches in Penn State Football, and Great Players in Notre Dame Football. In the fall, 2017, he finished a book about The Birth of American Football, using those words as the title, and surprisingly, it is a best seller in Europe and Great Britain. Kelly wonders why those across the pond are so interested in American football but he is pleased for sure that they are.
